Mangaluru, Sep 20: Dakshina Kannada district will have Dasara school holidays from October 1 to 15, the communication from the education department says.
The above applies to all schools and high schools in the district.
As the Navaratri festivities begin on September 30 and conclude on October 8 in the city and district, appeals were made to declare the holidays from that date instead of October 6.
Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath had also appealed to the primary and high school education minister Suresh Kumar to declare the Dasara holidays on time.
Now considering the request, the education department has modified the dates for Dakshina Kannada and declared the holidays from October 1 to 15.
The schools will reopen on October 16.
