Udupi, Sep 20: In response to allegations by the Billava community of five BJP MLAs of the district conspiring in Kota Srinivas Poojary not getting the district-in-charge post of Udupi, district BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde said, “Billava Community has contributed a lot to the party and its development. More than 70% of the people of all other community have supported party. Kota Poojary is the most eligible person. There is no confusion and no difference in opinion in the party. He was MLC for both the districts and other 15 ministers did not get any post of their home constituency. It is the decision of Chief Minister Yediyurappa.”
Ratnakar Hegde was speaking at the press meet that was held at the BJP office here on Friday, September, 20. He further said, “Whatever be the allegations or disappointments of the Billava community is purely internal issue of BJP. We will discuss in core committee meeting. If the community people discuss party issues in community, it is against the party. A direct allegation on the MLAs is not right. Caste should not become politics. Politics is beyond caste or class. If it is against the party principle, we will take action against that Billava community leader. In case we find the allegation is true, then we will pressurize CM also.”
According to the direction given by BJP high command, the Udupi district BJP is organizing Rashtriya Ekatha Abhiyan with the slogan ‘One Nation, One Constitution’. As part of the Abhiyan, a public awareness campaign is organized on abrogation of Article 370 at Hotel Country Inn, Manipal here on Friday, September 20.
D V Sadananda Gowda, union minister for chemicals and fertilizers will inaugurate the programme and Dr Thejaswini, MLC will delivered keynote address. Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde will preside over the programme. All MLAs and BJP learders will participate in the seminar.
The convenors of the Abhiyan Sanur Narasimha Kamath and Poornima Suresh Naik, BJP president Prabhakar Poojary and Shivakumar Ambalpady were present.
