Liquor bottles destroyed in Jharkhand


Ranchi, Sep 19 (IANS): The Jharkhand Excise Department on Thursday destroyed bottles of Indian made foreign liquor and beer in Giridih district.

The excise department had declared the liquor unfit for sale.

"The liquor sale dates have expired as it was kept in the godown for a long period. The liquor belonged to the State Beverage Corporation" Awadesh Kumar Singh, district excise superintendent, said.

"The total destroyed beer and liquors were 23,693 litres of different brands. The market price of the destroyed beer and liquors was around Rs 70 lakh," he added.

The representative of the liquor companies were present during the destruction of the bottles.
