Yadagiri: Dalits prohibited from using drinking water - Rs 10,000 fine for violators

Daijiworld Media Network - Yadagiri (MS)

Yadagiri, Sep 19: The flare up that occurred between the people of upper caste and Dalits during a feast celebration in the Honagera village of the taluk has taken a vicious turn now. The upper caste people have threatened people of their community not to give drinking water to Dalits. Anyone violating the order will be fined Rs 10,000. The leaders of the Madiga community have filed a complaint in this regard to the district administration.

"A fight had erupted between the people of upper caste and Dalits of the village during the feast celebration on September 10 in which the youths of Dalit community had stamped on the legs of the upper caste people. The issue was resolved after two to three days through discussions. But the upper caste people have socially boycotted the Dalits on the same issue. They have warned people of their community to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 if they provide drinking water or give grocery or allow the people from the Dalit community in auto rickshaws. This has caused panic in Dalit part of the village as we are not even getting water to drink," said the leaders of the Dalit community staging protest in front of the district administration office.

It is learnt that police circle inspector of Yadagiri Sharanagowda had visited the village on the evening of Tuesday, September 17 and conducted a peace meeting between the communities and made the people from upper caste to change their stance. However, there are accusations that the people from upper caste refused to give drinking water to Dalits in front of the police inspector himself.

The officials said that one more round of meeting for peace will be held in the village. If the situation does not come under control, then stringent action will be taken against those instigating division in society.

The so called lower caste people should refuse to do any work for the so called upper caste people. They should keep their chin up and walk. The so called lower caste people should distribute water to everyone during the feast.

What an irony! Upper caste people refused to give water to Dalits in front of the police inspector himself. Why couldn’t the police book them under applicable sections of IPC? Our police are known to always harass and commit atrocities on the weaker sections of people. Have you ever heard of police atrocities on the upper castes? This shows the weakness of our police force in front of upper castes.

It’s high time UCC must be passed and caste based reservations must be abolished altogether thereby implementing practical equality in the society. Otherwise sab ka saath, sab ka vikas is bound to become sab ka satyanas.

You Hypocrites, suppose if the differences had erupted between the two communities and the dalits belonged to the minority,  most of you  would have blindly supported the upper cast and by now many politicians would have lined up with appointment to go the troubled area to stir up the situation.

Now you guys neither support nor condemn. Be righteous in your life. Try to learn to say Right is right wrong is wrong even at home.  We can change our troubled India to a beautiful country.

PEACE does not come through any cast or religion but only through holiness of a person, i.e how we live . Only God Almighty can provide peace &  joy irrespective of religion or cast.

This is the real picture of our so called Sanatana country. With so many castes and varna neethi still not eradicated, the nagpur univesity is interested in kicking out christians and muslims from India.
Even if we are kicked out this country will not improve because of these third rated beliefs of class system in the majority community.

Let's assume that the rule is broken and fine paid - how will they use the money, after dipping it in cow dung and washing it in gau-mutra ???

Who gave these people the authority to impose fines ? Are they a court ? First must arrest them for goonda- gardi.

I'm glad that the lower class people made use of reservations and are on high positions now. There are bank managers, municipal officers - what do you guys do ? Close your account in that bank ? Stop taking municipal services ?

Utter donkeys.. will never improve even after thousands of years. Mr. Modi better forget development and better go to join the remaining Modis.

Indian citizens, Dalits are discriminated and their human rights violated to the core in India. And India is demonizing Pakistan of discrimination and violation of human rights. India must clean the back yard first before complaining.
