Pa Pa Ya: Haven for dimsum lovers

New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANSlife): It claims to have the "world's largest dimsum collection". Pa Pa Ya at Select CityWalk in Saket could be just another restaurant promising authentic Asian flavours, if not for the grand claim.

The multi-level bistro has an unmistakable Asian vibe to it - its interiors styled like a contemporary, Japanese shokudo and the peppy songs that play in the background.

For beginners, their new menu has illustrations drawn for every dish, which can be customised as per taste by choosing from a number of stuffing options - both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

Some of the signature dimsums include ‘Carrot Truffle and Cream Cheese Dimsum', ‘Cheung Fung' -- rice paper rolls served with seasoned soy sauce available in veg/chicken/prawns, ‘Shao Mai' -- open faced dumplings available in veg/ chicken/prawns/lamb/fish/pork and ‘Glutinous Rice' -- rice coated dumplings steamed in own stock available in veg/ chicken/prawns/lamb/fish/pork).

The ‘Lao Mai Gai' is glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in classic lotus leaf. It is available in these variants: veg , chicken, prawns, lamb, fish and pork. ‘Xia Long Bao' comes in a small bowl with soup.

The menu offers ‘Baos', which are steam fermented buns with choices of stuffings like truffle and mushrooms/Korean chicken/chilli hoisin lamb/cha sui pork. The dish looks like of a textured full-size mushroom with cocoa powder on the top. We tried it with truffle and mushroom stuffing. Soft outside and creamy inside, a must try!

The restaurant also has an in-house bar, and cocktails that are sure to complement a relaxed brunch.

Pa Pa Ya deserves a visit for its gastronomic blend of modern Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisines and the cross-cultural experience it gives you in the capital. Whether or not it lives up to its claim, will need more than one visit here.

Price: Rs 2,500 for two people (approx.)

Location: Dome, Level 4, Select Citywalk, A-3, District Centre, Saket, New Delhi
