Mangaluru: Indian Coast Guard ship rescues 23 crew members of vessel stalled due to engine failure

Mangaluru, Sep 18: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship Rajdoot rescued 23 crew members of an IFB NSG vessel that was stuck due to engine failure on Tuesday, September 17 at Mavinakurve, 30 nautical miles from the shore.

The affected vessel IFB NSG reported engine failure. ICG ship Rajdoot, which was on patrol duty of Karnataka and Goa coast, immediately diverted and went to the site of the vessel in trouble. The technical team of ICG ship Rajdoot embarked on IFB NSG vessel and provided technical support. However, the engine of IFB could not be started. All the 23 crew members on the affected vessel are found to be safe.

The ICG ship Rajdoot requested IFB Pavan Sutta vessel that was fishing in nearby waters to assist in towing IFB NSG. The vessel is being towed to Bhatkal now. In addition, IFB SDY vessel also provided assistance to the Indian Coast Guard in the operation.
