Panaji, Sep 4: While State Sports Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar held former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat responsible for the delay in hosting National Games in Goa, Kamat in turn accused Ajgaonkar of ‘contempt of Goa Legislative Assembly.’

Goa government has been facing criticism for frequent postponment of the dates to host National Games in the State. Sports Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar, while justifying the delays, had claimed that Kamat who was Chief Minister between 2007-2012 was responsible for it.

He had said that the National Games were first delayed in the year 2011 and since then they have been getting postponed.

Kamat, who is currently leader of opposition, strongly refuted the allegations leveled by Ajgaonkar  holding him responsible for postponement of National Games in 2011, Leader of Opposition and Margao MLA today stated that Ajgaonkars statement is 'Contempt of Goa Legislative Assembly'.

He also urged the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to advise his ministers to refrain from making baseless statements without proper study and knowledge of the subject matter.

Kamat took on to tweeter to explain his side of the story. He tweeted : The Sports Minister @BabuAjgaonkar holding me responsible for postponement of National Games is contempt of Goa Legislative Assembly. I have put all records straight. I hope @goacm @DrPramodPSawant wl advise  ministers to refrain from making baseless statements@INCGoa @girishgoa.

Leader of opposition stated that during the discussion on LAQ on National Games, I had clearly put the records straight that it was  due to delay in organisation of previous editions of National Games by other states, Goa could not host the Games in 2011.

“It is unfortunate that Ministers don’t study the subject matters properly and try to blame others for their failures to keep up with their own commitments,” he added.
