Malappuram: Allegedly raped by teacher, 12-year-old becomes pregnant

Malappuram, Aug 26: In a sad incident which happened in Malappuram district of Kerala, a 12-year-old student was found to have become pregnant. The culprit in this case is said to be the teacher who teaches in the school where the girl is a seventh standard student.

As per information, the family was unaware of the fact that the girl was pregnant. The doctors told them about the girl's condition during a routine health check. The rape-accused, who is 30-year-old, is said to have taken to his heels.

The police investigation revealed that the teacher in question was raping the girl and using her to satiate his hunger for sex over a period of two months but the family appeared to be not having any clue about this. After the staff came to know during medical check-up at a hospital, the matter was conveyed to the girl's family as well as the police.

During the counselling session, the girl is said to have admitted that her teacher was the rapist. A case has been registered, naming the teacher concerned as the rape-accused, and charging him with provisions relating to rape and sexual offences against children under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.     Indian Supreme Court decriminalized consensual sex....perhaps it embolden these sick minds....these morons don't understand a minors consent is no consent at all...

    The BJP government Rajya Sabha passed in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences( POCSO)(Amendment) Bill, 2019.

    The amendments in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act also provide for fines and imprisonment to curb child pornography.


    Sections 4, 5and 6 amended to provide the option of stringent punishment, including the death penalty, for committing sexual assault and aggravated penetrative sexual assault crime on a child to protect the children from sexual abuse.

    The recently passed amended POCSO (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences) Act when discussed in Rajya Sabha, had an amendment which removed the existing clause on “aggravated assault- in the course of communal and sectarian violence” and sought to replace the words ‘communal and sectarian violence’ with just ‘violence’.

    Survivors of child sexual abuse can suffer from a range of physical and mental health issues. For some, recovery takes a lifetime. It is up to lawmakers and citizens alike to protect children from being pawns in hate crimes. The retention of “communal and sectarian violence” clause in the POCSO Act is one such measure to hold perpetrators accountable. It is a sad, fearful, and violent world we are raising our children in, and we must advocate for their rights at every avenue. They deserve to live in a world free of strife. They deserve to live in communal harmony. After all, they are the ones who can pay the highest price for the intolerance preached by adults.

    But strangely, POCSO law doesn't seem to apply for 'Kathua rape' accused of 8 years nomad girl who was confined in the temple , drugged, gang-raped and brutally murdered by smashing her head. The court sentenced five years for some accused in the case and let one go.

    It is Malappuram or Kathua, they are our 'Betis' of the Bharat Mata need to protect. This is the concern of every parent whose daughter attains puberty.
