Bike falls off Delhi's Barapullah flyover, one killed


New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS): A 36-year-old man died and his cousin sustained serious injuries when they fell from the Barapullah flyover in southeast Delhi while riding a two-wheeler on Saturday evening, the police said on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased, Rohit Makol (36), who was driving the two-wheeler with his cousin Pradeep on pillion seat, lost control and fell off the flyover.

Makol, who worked at a private firm and lived in Tilak Nagar, died in the accident. Pradeep is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

"At 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Police Control Room (PCR) received two calls regarding the accident. When the police team reached the spot two persons were found lying under the flyover," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

Makol was declared brought dead by doctors. His cousin was unfit to give a statement, Biswal said. The police informed the victims' families and registered a case.

According to the police, there were no CCTV cameras near the accident spot and they were working on the sequence of events that led to the accident.
