Central inter-ministerial team in state to assess flood situation


New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) :An inter-ministerial team of the Centre on Saturday reached Karnataka to conduct an assessment of the flood situation.

A Home Ministry official said the team will conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the flood situation for the next three days.

According to preliminary surveys, the fortnight-long monsoon mayhem in the state has damaged 5.35-lakh hectares of farmlands, affecting food grain production and damaging 71,234 houses.
