Mangaluru: College student succumbs to suspected dengue fever

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 24: Suspected dengue fever claimed another life in Dakshina Kannada district. Madhushree (19), a second year student of BSc degree course of a college in the city happened to be the latest victim of this disease.

Madhushree was a resident of Salethur in Bantwal taluk. She was treated for suspected dengue fever in a private hospital here and had been discharged three days back, after finding that she had recovered. She was advised rest. On Thursday August 22 night, she complained of chest pain, it is learnt. Though she was rushed to the hospital immediately, the treatments given to her, failed to improve her condition.

Health department officials however have claimed that dengue was not the reason for the student's demise. District health surveillance officer, Dr Navinchandra, said that the said student was discharged, having been healed of dengue fever. He clarified that she died of chest pain and lung infection.

Dengue virus infection affects the heart structurally and functionally. Clinical manifestations of cardiac complications secondary to dengue virus infection vary from self-limiting arrhythmias to severe myocardial infarction, leading to hypotension, pulmonary edema, and cardiogenic shock. However, we report a case of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) complicated by a complete heart block.

Our Lady's solution to sicknesses, plagues in the world.

    19 May 2019.

"This is Mary, the Mother of God, as your protector, My love, and the protector of all Our most beloved children. Thanks so much for all the prayers that came from all the world last month. My Father is very pleased and happy that things are getting better as far as prayers. There are enough prayers right now to help to balance in Heaven’s favor. Keep praying and do not stop.
    ...
I am very happy with some of the states in America that are passing laws against abortion. My Son has told you that natural disasters will continue all over the world if abortion is not stopped soon. The states and areas in the world that are sinning the most that do not want to change will be hit the hardest by natural disasters and the plagues and sicknesses of many kinds. Storms and disasters come from sins of the flesh. If everyone stopped the sins of the flesh and started living God the Father’s Ten Commandments, the world would have peace again. If you do not stop all the sins of the flesh, you will continue to suffer greatly and lose everything you’ve got physically, and also many will lose their souls. This is the last generation, My son, that God the Father will put up with abortion, same sex marriages, and all the sins of the flesh. Love, the Mother of God and of all Our Children.

This is your last chance to stop evil in America and all the world or you will hit bottom with nothing left. Prepare for a shortage of food if abortion is not stopped.

    Love, Mary."

Since there is no specific treatment, but only symptomatic for dengue, it's very difficult to treat!I

Could be, she was not completely cured at discharge!

There have been reported very virulent strains of dengue attacking heart muscle & kidneys which often proves fatal!!

In dengue after apparent improvement the symptoms aggravate which is typical. How many more deaths and morbidity before dengue vaccine is available in Mangalore? Even in countries like Brazil and Philippines it is available.

Really appreciable comment Monty...i heard that in the cases of dengue fever gets cure..and after that symptoms aggravate. No proper awareness regarding the symptoms. Symptoms are not being made circulated through media to reach out to the public...they only create awareness of stagnated water/ breeding of the mosquitoes in pure clear pure water etc. But as you mentioned in your comment about symptoms.. many are not aware. Fever subsided means dengue subsided..no..there should be regular blood test every alternate day...you will come the difference in platelets and patient should be more on liquid diet. Regarding vaccine..i would like to say..its good income to the hospitals and medical stores.. hospitas are Full...ICU s are full....playing with the lives of innocent people...till there ...mevery one is thinking of making money...very very sad indeed ! One more blooming bud got burnt...may her soul rest in peace...may God heal the pains of her parents and give them consolation and peace. !

Even for malaria there is pyrimethamine 25 mg tablet which can be taken even on an empty stomach, is cheap and safe even for children, used for prevention of malaria, available elsewhere in India but not in any medical store in Mangalore. In combination with sulfadoxin it is used for treatment of chloroquine resistant malaria, again not available in Mangalore, in spite of drawing attention of municipal authorities, may be for the same reasons mentioned by you.
