Shooting in mind for powerlifter Gaurav Sharma

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS): Powerlifter Gaurav Sharma is now all set to try his hands in shooting after tasting considerable success in powerlifting.

The 32-year-old is currently participating in 35th Delhi State Shooting championship (10m pistol event), organised by Delhi State Rifle Association.

"I have been training on shooting from the past six months. I am in a learning process and my coach Falaq Sher Alam is helping me in achieving my new dream," Gaurav said.

Asked why he switched from powerlifting to shooting, Gaurav said, "I always liked it (shooting) after powerlifting and wanted to join it from the past few months."

Last year, Gaurav was conferred with the Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award in London.

Gaurav, who took up powerlifting at the age of 17, had won two gold medals at the European Championships earlier this year.
