Udupi, Aug 23: On the fifth day of Srikrishna Janmashtami celebrations being held at Rajangana of Srikrishna Math here under the aegis of Sri Jagadguru Moolamahasamsthanam Sri Hrishikeshateertha Peetam Paryaya Sri Palimaru Math, Paryaya Palimaru Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji delivered a benedictory address.
"I pray to Lord Krishna to rein in the countries located in the neighbourhood of India and enable India to move forward with its head held high. Lord Krishna is like a judge for the entire universe. He loves recitation of eulogies that are backed by pure love and not any worldly desires. He lends an ear to the prayers in such cases with total concentration. Because Lord Krishna is the Lord of everything and everyone, he has the power to control all ther gods. He is not under the control of anyone and he himself is the controller of everyone and everything. Like efficient officials who do their work on time, Lord Srikrishna by birth, has the quality of leadership. He has the quality of taking along everyone else with him. All of us need to learn these qualities," he felt.
Admar Math junior Swamiji, Sri Eshapriyateertha, said that grace of the Lord is needed for humans to attain salvation. He said the Lord's name should be remembered and recited everyday all through one's life and that everyday some time has to be set aside for this purpose.
Palimaru junior Swamiji, Srividyarajeshwarateertha Swamiji, spoke thereafter.
Newly inducted minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary and local MLA, Raghupati Bhat, participated as chief guests. After accepting the felicitation extended by Palimaru Swamiji, Poojary hailed the contributions made by Pejawar Swamiji and other Swamijis to the cause of Hindutwa in general and cow slaughter ban in particular. He noted that Lord Krishna has always been associated with cows.
Poojary said that the chief minister has asked the officials to issue a circular to implement prohibition of cow slaughter act in letter and spirit. He assured the Swamijis that the government will back them on the issue of preserving the traditions, customs and ideals of the Math. He requested the people on this occasion to join hands with the government in successfully handling the situation arising out of floods all over the state.
Chief district and sessions judge, Chandrashekhar Mrityunjaya Joshi, retired IAS officer, Dr Mudduohan, Pradeep Kumar Mattu, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, former minister, Nagaraj Shetty, Kumar Bekkeri of Kannada and culture department, Diwakar Shetty of Saibaba Mandir and chartered accountant, Bharathish Ballal, were felicitated.
Later, a Hindustani music recital by Dr Muddumohan was presented.
