Mangaluru: Milagres College launches National Service Scheme

Mangaluru, Aug 17: Inauguration of National Service Scheme (NSS) of Milagres College was held on August 16.

Dr Vishwanath Badikana, Professor, department of Kannada, St Aloysius College was chief guest of the programme. He spoke on history of inception of NSS and explained the responsibilities of an NSS volunteer. He said, "Volunteers should dedicate themselves by serving to society without expecting anything in return."

Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal, Milagres College presided over the programme. He administered the oath for NSS volunteers. In his presidential speech, he asked the students to voluntarily serve the country and participate in the activities which will shape them into better human beings. The programme was inaugurated by watering a plant.

Prof Lourdusamy, academic advisor, Denzil E Pinto, NSS programme officer, Princita J D'Souza, assistant NSS programme officer were present. 102 NSS student volunteers participated in the programme. Kaushike, NSS student volunteer compered the programme.
