Moodbidri: College student suffers serious injuries in accident at Belvai

Moodbidri, Aug 13: A girl, student of a college in Udupi, was grievously injured when an Innova car hit her when she was waiting for bus at the bus stop on Tuesday, August 13. She is admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Shubalaxmi, daughter of Jagannatha Madiwala, a resident of Belvai Mudayi Kadu of the taluk is the one who is seriously injured in the accident. She is the student of Hiriyadka Government First Grade College in Udupi.

Shubalaxmi was waiting, along with four other students at the bus stop for the bus that goes towards Karkala. An Innova car that was coming from Moodbidri hit Shubhalaxmi at high speed and she was thrown to a distance of 15 meters due to the impact. She received severe injuries to her head and chest bones.

As she received serious injury to her head, blood was oozing from her mouth and nose. The hospital sources said that, though Shubhalaxmi is out of danger, she might be in coma for some days.

The rest three students received minor injuries. The car, after hitting the students, overturned, crashed against a tree and came to a halt.

    Usage of mobile phone while on wheel is the main reason for the accidents occurring frequently nowadays.When the drivers on phone conversation,they don't bother about others because of their focus on mobile phones.Though there is a law in this connection,it is not strictly implemented and adhered.Because of these negligence,innocent and poor public are becoming the target of incidents and their precious life is lost due to silly mistake of the driver,who is on wheel.
    Once the law is strictly implemented or adhered no such incidents will occur in the future. Concerned authorities,officials,departments should take note of this and active decisively.

    Over speeding and usage of mobile phones are the reason for these kinds of accidents.traffic police of the district should issue a whatsapp number for the people of the district and people who see drivers using mobile phones should take a track of the vehicle number and text.and their licences should be withdrawn from emmediate effect.else more and more innocent lives will be in danger.this accident shows how careless driving has become in our district.bcoz it wasn't a narrow road .it's the highway belvai karkala road.hope girl survives and lead a normal life.
