Udupi: St Theresa Church emerge champion in 'Yea Ghadyanth Khelya'

Udupi, Jul 24: St Theresa Church Kemmannu bagged championship trophy with prize Rs 8,008 in 'Yea Ghadyanth Khelya', was jointly organized by Saint Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Youth Association, Brahmavar (SMOSYA) and Holy Family Church ICYM, Brahmavar, held at Baikady here on July 21.

Holy Family Church Brahmavar bagged the 1st runner-up trophy and the 2nd runner-up trophy was bagged by Holy Cross Church, Byndoor. The two team received Rs 5005 and Rs 3003 respectively.

The event took place in the fields of Baikady village where 15 teams around Udupi and Kundapur participated.



 

Fr Victor Fernandes, vicar of Holy Family church, Brahmavar inaugurated the programme.

Games like volleyball, throw ball, running race, dizzy race, 3 legged race, relay and tug of war were conducted.

The closing ceremony was conducted at dusk along with the prize distribution.

Fr Eldho M Paul, vicar of Saint Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Brahmavar was the chief guest of the programme. Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, vice president of Holy Family church, Ivan Suaris, trustee of St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Cathedral and secretary, Samson Dsouza were a part of the programme too.

Office bearers of SMOSYA, vice president Junius Lewis, secretary Royston Lewis and treasurer Aron Roche took the initiative of the programme along with president Rolwin Lobo, vice president Anil Dsouza and secretary Roshni Dsouza of Holy Family Church ICYM.

The formal programme was compered by Melba Lewis and Jovita Rebello respectively. Melba Lewis of SMOSYA thanked the gathering and expressed gratitude to the people who supported in order to make the programme successful.
