Bengaluru, Jul 20: The New Indian Times web portal has been holding media awards programme since the last two years.

The first programme of the year 2016-17 was held with pomp and gaiety. The success was beyond expectations. Only anchors were presented awards then.

The programme was titled Favourite Anchor awards of Karnataka. People had elected their favourite anchors by voting in Facebook. Chandan Sharma in BTV was awarded first prize in the anchors division. Chandan Sharma is the executive editor in new news channel Power TV at present. He has shouldered the responsibility at a young age.

Somanna Machimada was awarded second prize. He was the head of metro division in the newly started and hugely expected first news channel E TV and chief anchor of the anchor department.



Among female anchors, TV9 Sukanya Sampat had bagged first prize. She had bagged first prize in the second year also. Sukanya is popular as TV9 Sukanya and is still in the same organization. She is the Kannada anchor with highest followers in social media. Jahnavi Mahadi who was in ETV had received second prize. She is now a part of First news channel that will be started soon.

The awards programme was titled TN IT awards for the year 2017-18 after the huge success of the first year. Besides anchors, reporters, cameramen, voice over artistes and video editors were also presented prizes. Prizes were also presented to Cinema, Political crime, sports best investigative reporting also.

Besides that in the division of all-rounder electronic media, Suvarna news current affairs division head, popular anchor, bronze voice journalist Jayaprakash Shetty and TV9 popular anchor and well known journalist Radhika were presented awards.

Among anchors, TV9’s Malhesh was presented first prize and TV5’s Raghava Soorya was presented second prize. Among female anchors TV Anchors TV 9 Sukanya received first prize for the second time. BTV’s Shruthi bagged second prize.

Voice over Female: 1) Preethi – Praja 2) Sneha – Raj News

Video editor Male: 1) Somashekar News 18 2) Dhananjay Suvarna news

Video editor Female: 1) Nanda – Suvarna news 2) Sharmila - TV5

Cinema Reporter: Suguna – Suvarna news

Political Reporter: Anand Baidanamane – Suvarna news

Crime Reporter: Abhishek Shanker TV5

Sports Reporter: Suma – Digvijaya

The programme this year will be held on Saturday, July 20 at Town Hall, Bengaluru at 6.30 pm. Elite people from different sectors will take part in the programme.
