Udupi, Jul 20: Even though evidence points out that the death of Shiroor Math seer Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji was suspicious, none of the relatives are coming forward to complain, said advocate Ravi Kiran Murdeshwar.

He was speaking at a tribute, organised as part of the first death anniversary of the seer at Spandana School for Special Children at Uppoor in the leadership of Isha Vittal Dasa Swamiji on Friday, July 19.

"The case in Additional District Court at Kundapur can still be reopened as it was a mysterious death. Traces of poison were found in his body. The judgment by the court that the death was due to age related illness, even after submitting consolidated postmortem report and forensic report is not acceptable. A writ petition can be filed in the high court," he said.

Kemar swamiji speaking on the occasion said that he will stand by Shiroor swamiji even if the entire world stands against him. "The late swamiji lived by setting aside the differences of religion and caste. Police have questioned only small witnesses but not people occupying high positions. Police are unnecessarily troubling the companions of Swamiji and ashram residents. I have several witnesses and audio recordings. I will produce all of them at approximate time. Those who desired ill for swamiji will be punished," he said.

"Police have handed over the key of Sode Math without informing anybody. I will resort to legal battle if necessary. I will not allow anybody to spoil the reputation of Shiroor. The anniversary should be observed in a special manner. A brindavan should be constructed for the late swamiji. His successor should be appointed immediately," he urged.

"A Mangaluru based journalist is writing a biography of Shiroor swamiji. It includes the mafia he saw, his donations and help in it," he said.

Managing director of Saira developers Manohar Shetty, Badagubettu credit cooperative general manager Jayaker Shetty Indrali, Ace company director Latavya Acharya, Srikanth Shetty, Spandana school head Janardhan Navin Rao, Radhakrishna Shetty, Santhosh, Bhasker and others were present.

Clothes were donated to Spandana school children. Bhajans were held.
