Advisor Farooq Khan decides not to use bullet-proof vehicle


Srinagar, Jul 19 (IANS): The newly appointed advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan, on Thursday decided not to use bullet-proof vehicle while moving in Srinagar city and Jammu.

An official statement said today: "The advisor said that he would not like to have any pilot vehicle, bullet-proof escort and bullet-proof sitting vehicle while moving in Srinagar city and Jammu district.

"Therefore, he said, he is returning these vehicles.

However, he said the escort and bullet-proof vehicle will be used only during his visits to other districts of Kashmir.

A retired senior police officer of the state, Khan was appointed as advisor to Governor Satya Pal Malik after he resigned as administrator of Lakshadweep.
