Vinyl stickers on 218 train coaches to remember Kargil heroes

New Delhi, Jul 17 (IANS): As a mark of tribute to the brave soldiers who participated in the 1999 Kargil war, the Indian Railways has decided to display special stickers commemorating the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas in over 218 train coaches.

A senior Railway Ministry official told IANS: "To commemorate the 20th year of the Kargil war, vinyl stickers depicting the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers are being displayed outside 218 train coaches. The stickers carry messages like 'Lest we forget' and 'India won't forget'."

The official said that the idea was mooted to invoke a feeling of patriotism among the masses.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan and Minister of State for Railways Suresh C. Angadi launched the commemorations here on Monday by flagging off the Varanasi-bound 14258 Kashi-Vishwanath Express with one such sticker on a rake.
