Ex-top cop Farooq Khan to take over as Chief Security Advisor to J&K Governor


Srinagar, Jul 12 (IANS): Lakshadweep Administrator Farooq Khan is likely to take over next week as the Chief Security Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik, sources said here.

Sources said former Inspector General of Police Khan, a 1994-batch IPS officer and present administrator of Lakshadweep, is likely to join as the top security advisor to the J&K Governor next week.

"Orders to this effect are being issued shortly," sources said.

Khan retired from service in 2013 and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He hails from Jammu and played a major role in anti-militancy operations in the state before his retirement.
