Mangalore: Dreaded Dandupalya Gang Overpowers Police, Threatens Media Men in Court Premises

Mangalore, May 27: Relating to a double murder case in the city that occurred in the year 1993, members of the notorious Dandupalya Gang from Bangalore were produced in a city court on Tuesday May 26. The chained hooligans proved why they are dreaded, by exhibiting a violent behaviour, unmindful of the presence of the policemen escorting them, even occasionally being abusive with them. The policemen too seemed to be humbled by the animalistic behaviour of the gang members.

Seven members of the above gang were produced in the city court, in connection with the ongoing hearing in the afternoon on Thursday May 26. The chained criminals were escorted by five policemen of the Urwa police station and a district armed reserve constable.

When the gang members were being taken back to the jail after being produced in the court, a posse of presspersons was present to take their photographs. The gang members went wild on seeing the photographers and threatened the media men by using abusive words and showing aggressive gestures. They even aggressively came forward, as if to attack the media men and the policemen failed to do anything. The policemen seemed to be not in control of the hooligans and instead of controlling the aggressive men of the gang, asked the lensmen not to shoot pictures and ordered them to go back. When the media men stood their ground, unmindful of the wild demeanours of the criminals and firm instructions by the policemen, the gang members became angrier.

They then were seen hurling choicest abuses at the policemen, using unparliamentary words that citizens of the coastal districts loathe using. The policemen apparently were submissive, unable to regulate the gang members, having no guts to ask them to behave.

To avoid the media glare, the police van was taken into the court premises and the goons were picked from there for being taken back to the jail premises thereafter.

When I look at the photographs I can make out why these things happen, like criminals escaping when being escorted by police. The police do not have the build or figure to be recruited for the duties. Let alone the equipment or training which is lacking in these modern days. Just see the new boat launched yesterday, the police are not dressed or equipped to travel in sea, they have to change their gear quickly or a bunch of school children will give them a slip. Nowadays why police are using excessive force to break up peaceful protests could be understood by anybody. Even in the time of British Gandhiji & others were treated rather with honour and kindness than present day protectors of law. I don''t blame them but they are acting with their political bosses specific instructions to do so. I wonder whether we arer living in a democracy or autocracy.

Dear Rajesh Barbi, I am the most unfortunate person that I do not have a son I would have been the happiest person to encourage my son to join NDF, if I had one. However I am a proud son to say that my father and two of my uncles served in the army of our nation and my father lost his two fingers. Rajesh whatever work one does whether it is cleaning or flying an aircraft he must satisfy himself with his good work. Fulfilling the obligation is not going to satisfy anyone.

One dialogue in one of our Hindi movie goes like this "People laugh only at two things, One enuchus and the other on Police". These useless police can only show their strength on weak, helpless or women. They are only good for money making. KARNATAKA POLICE - Jai Ho

No need of trial. Dont feed these people with our tax money. I''d rather say tie their hands and hand them over to the relatives or friends of people who have been their victims. When they feel the pain, they''ll know how the victim would have felt. Blood shall be settled by blood alone!

Hey why dont the Police give a bus or riskshaw money to these hooligans, ask them to go to court and come back. These cops give the handcuffs and the chains in the hands of the criminals and they themselves walk so freely. Instead of spening the tax payers money on such police men why not ask these criminals to go to court and come back themseleves. The Police seems to be having a lot of confidence on the criminals.

Rajesh, Barbadose, It should be other way round. Police need to inspire general public by good behaviour and practice law and order on criminals and not on weak women and men of the society as they proved time and again in Mangalore.

Rolphy almeida I respect you for your comment, You are paying tax not me and you definitely have the edge to question the government and the police. But blaming the police personal for everything they do is embarrassing. Think, would you send your son to save India to their border! At least, policemen are human being and are also from poor/rich families who are bread and butter for the members at home. Instead of blaming you need to support them, inspire them then you get paid back for your tax money. But I see people talk just because their interest wasn’t succeeded due to the police action in the past.

Dear Rajesh Barbados, if police cannot control the criminals, who can control them? You are not paying tax we do and we have right to question about our security. The police can attack and control women and disciplined people, then how and why they cannot control goons and criminals? Hope wisdom prevails and you understand why the government need a police department.

Love and fear are two powerful forces. Godly people try to change the world through love, and evil elements of the society will try to control the world through creating a cloud of fear. Winston Churchill said during the world war, while Germany was bombarding England "you have nothing to fear by fear itself". If the peace loving people of Mangalore make a united effort, then the minority thugs who are creating fear in the society can be grounded fast.

Mr Satish Kumar, could you provide some pictures for our readers of truck loads of stones being transported for rioting during the church attacks. The ever alert Bajranji''s and Ram sainiks must have taken atleast some pictures in the interest of society to expose christian terrorists. Or is it your imagination which is working overtime?

What are you trying to say here Daijiworld? It looks as if you are trying to prove the inability of police personal. If so, it’s so sad. Criminals are criminals they are wild, they are aggressive that’s how they became criminals and the reason they are chained.

Regarding Dandupalya gang members ..I forgot to say very important thing in my earlier comment. All the gang members were arrested by police with great difficulty. But...their leader escaped from the jail !!! I don''t know whether he was caught again or not. I apologise Daiji & Kishor for mentioning native place of the dacoit as Harappanhalli instead of Hoskote..I have doubt about that. But attack on Ravi Belgere was at Harappanhalli (not by this criminals). For that self defence action Mr Ravi Belgere had to face very big problem. He was accused of firing at innocent man by D.K.Shivkumar (ex home minister). Finally after a very long court case Judge sentenced criminal 8 years jail punishment.

What a wonderful judiciary we have in our country! Instead of sending them to the gallows, the Govt. has been feeding these bloody criminals for the last 16 years. Just take one look at the guns the policemen are carrying... absolutely outdated. I wonder if they can fire! The policemen deputed for this high risk job seem to be hand picked! Just look at each ones physic. Absolutely shameful! It is a wonder that they have not been overpowered by this notorious Dandupalya gang! God alone should help them.

Dandupalya Gang is the most notorious Gang Karnataka has ever seen. They used to rape victims first, irrespective of their sex and age,and kill them by slashing thier throat. In one of the cases ,these ANIMALS ,even raped and killed Hijda (chakka) in Mysore. They were caught accidently in Harappana halli.Police Inspector and team were almost unconscious when one of them said "We raped and killed nearly 50 people " God knows why these notorious criminals are kept in jail instead of sending them to hell !!

Harappana halli is DACOITS main place. Editor of Hi Bangalore ,Mr Ravi Belagere was attacked by four criminals here only.Luckily Ravi Belagere fired and injured one of them with his license revolver.Recently criminal was awarded with 8 years imprisonment after a very long court case.
