Daijiworld Media Network - Madikeri (MS)

Madikeri, Jun 27: Jamaat leaders slapped a fine on a youth in the district of Kodagu for sporting a crazy hairstyle.

Shafi Muslim Jamaat of Gundikere village, Betoli of Virajpet in the district is giving some lessons since some months to change their behaviour and appearance. This organization is also lauded for instilling discipline among most of the youths of the village.

The leaders of the Jamaat had warned three students in total. Nizam, a youth, who used to work in some outstation state was loitering in the village sporting strange type of hair cut. The members of the Jamaat, who noticed him, had called his parents and him and had given good advice. However, when they did not pay heed to their words, they slapped fine on them.

The Jamaat sent an order on June 21, in which they wrote, "As you are a member of the Jamaat and have grown your hair against the verdict of the Jamaat you are fined Rs 5,000. If you do not pay the fine, next course of action will follow."

The three youths, including Nizam, who got scared by the letter of the Jamaat attended the administrative council meeting of the Jamaat on Sunday, June 23 and had their haircuts in decent manner, as per the information given by the members of the Jamaat.

Gundigere village is a model in the district of Kodagu. People observing all religions reside here. Certain rules are being made in order to maintain social harmony. The Jamaat has got good response for the efforts, said a member of the Jamaat.

    Few observations

    1. Jamaat working hard for social harmony in the village is an excellent work, every religious heads can take a leaf out of it .
    2. Requesting a youth to be modest in dress and style is ok
    3. slapping a fine of Rs 5000 is wrong, his hair style will not create any problem for any community or will not create any social disharmony . its his style , he is happy let him do it
    4. When we are young we are tend to be a little fashionable tats law of nature , our ancestors had hippy hair style, long mustaches , bell bottom pants etc etc . if we dont do that when we are young , can we do that when we are old ?

The youth sporting funky hairstyles, will certainly not harm society or even the nation !! Madikeri Jammat leaders want to control the minds of their communities .. This is soft radicalisation.... can easily be transformed into hard core extremism..... it would have been wiser for those clerics, to fine n expel those rabid preachers, from propagating medieval ideologies n save the community, nation n the entire world from hate n destruction !!!!

Brothers, I see many are against what Jamaath has taken decision. Its all about a community and being part of it. Imagine that an orgonization or a committee which has its own vision and values with sets of rules then everyone who is part of it has to comply. There is nothing wrong in it. And if you think its not aligning with your line of thinking, come out of it and chose your own way, who stops you. Its India and you have the rights. You can also gather like minded persons and make an orgonization against it.

Why the guys obeyed after the fine? Because that still wanted to be part of that jamaath. But at the same time he has all the rights to chose his own way as per Indian constitution

Even though I don’t agree with fining, the principle and intention of Jamaath need to be appreciated. Read the last sentances of news article which I copied here again. Good minds always appreciate good deeds

"Gundigere village is a model in the district of Kodagu. People observing all religions reside here. Certain rules are being made in order to maintain social harmony. The Jamaat has got good response for the efforts, said a member of the Jamaat"

    Good Luck

Exactly. I don't think any of the criticizers here wish to see their dearest with wired look. There are so many reputed education institutions across the nation also have the similar norms for the students . Couple of years back in Canara college mangaluru my neighbor who was in first year commerce warn not to be with beard. There are more such schools and colleges in twin districts developing discipline with hair cut and dress codes which is need of times nowadays.

It's a new form of threatening where in a person will be isolated from the community (society) if he is not bound by the rules of this fanatics.I have seen may such cases where in masjid commitee has warned and removed membership for silly reasons such as playing music on mehendi functions, allowing childrens to participate on school cultural progamms &, for not standing with the ideologies of majority members. The religious fanatics are trying rule our community by inducing extreme form of praticing religion.

100 - 200 is where whole indian system has failed. Any tom dick and harry can afford it and enjoy breaking the rules and make our police look like jokers.
5000 is apt to stop it for once and all.

Never in his life he will grow hair like a peacock. This will have a larger impact in the society.

    No brother,
Its not ones personal choice to have such bizzare hairstyle. As per Islamic customs males can have long hair like upto shoulder (like that of Jesus(pbuh) and many of our prophets had upto shoulder hairstyle.like Dhoni had earlier.but nowadays youths have bonda chetti hairstyle.
If Jamaat school is strict on it ,there shouldn't be any problem. They also take care of nails, all this comes under personal hygiene.
