Kundapur, Jun 27: “We see these days’ youth losing interest in government jobs. Young people in the coastal region should stress on government jobs. There is scarcity of staff in police department. 4,500 jobs are vacant. There are ample opportunities for youth,” said additional police director general Bhasker Rao.

He was speaking after inaugurating strong room of Siddapur agricultural service cooperative society head office named ‘Kadiru’.

“Trust is the bigger asset that physical security. Money can be deposited boldly in cooperative societies such as these. It is better than investing in unknown chit funds and getting cheated. While nationalized banks are getting merged these days, old cooperative societies are more trust worthy,” he said.



“Running an organization for 94 years is not easy. Leadership is important for it. Trust of the rural people is important. If cooperative societies grow through good leadership like this, the country will progress,” he said.

District central cooperative bank president Dr M N Rajendra Kumar who inaugurated the new building of head office, ‘Kadiru’ said that government’s Salamanna has created confusion between farmers and cooperative societies. “It is not right to reduce the amount of Salamanna. Non-payment of the amount to the cooperative societies on time causes loss. The central and state government should stress on cooperative societies. They should give importance to cooperative societies also. He promised Rs six lacs for the new building of Siddapur cooperative association. Siddapur agricultural service cooperative society president A Jayarama Bhandary presided over the programme.

Opposition party leader Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the banking division. Dakshina Kannada milk producer’s federation president Kodavoor Raviraj Hegde, zilla panchayat member Rohith Kumar Shetty, taluk panchayat member S K Vasudev Pai, Poornima Naik, Siddapur gram panchayat president Sarojini Shetty, Hosangadi gram panchayat president Yashodha, association vice president Jayarama Ganiga, Ashok Kumar Shetty, Police department’s Janardhan and Krishnappa were present.

Chief executive Ramesh Ganiga gave an introductory address and tabled the report. Director D Gopalakrishna Kamath welcomed. Staff Sadananda Shetty thanked. Journalist Subrahmanya Padukone compered the programme.
