Beltangady: Teenager killed in motorbike-lorry collision at Naravi

Beltangady, Jun 27: In an accident which occurred at Naravi in the taluk on Wednesday June 26 morning, a youngster lost his life. The victim was Pradeep Poojary (19), son of Kariya Poojary and Jaya from Miyyottu in Savya village.

Pradeep had taken his brother, Prashanth Poojary, who is employed at Kalyan Jewellers Udupi, to the bus stand to enable him to return to Udupi. Prashanth was on a visit to the family as the shop was closed on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, Pradeep left home at 6.15 am and was returning after dropping his brother off at the bus stand when his motorbike and a lorry which came from the opposite direction got involved with accident at the road bend opposite the primary health centre at Naravi, it is said. Pradeep, who was tossed to the road due to the impact of the accident, suffered grave injuries to his head and died on the spot.

Pradeep had completed second PU education last year. The marriage of his sister was scheduled to be conducted in a few months. The locals said that a huge tree standing at the road bend here blocks the view of the vehicle drivers as a result of which several accidents have taken place here. They have demanded for the removal of this tree.

Postmortem was conducted at the government hospital here. Venoor police have registered a case.
