Raichur, Jun 26: "The government's finances are not affected on account of implementation of loan waiver scheme. I want the officials to pick speed and function at a speed I expect them to," said Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy.

He was addressing a press meet at the circuit house here before proceeding to Karegudda where his village stay has been scheduled, on Wednesday, June 26. He said that grant of Rs 3,000 crore has been allotted to the district and that the officials have apprised him about the bus transportation issue prevalent here. "I will initiate suitable steps within two weeks. The officials are not matching my speed in doing work," he reiterated.

Kumaraswamy stated that he had discussed with the deputy commissioner and zilla panchayat chief executive officer and collected information about the pending works. The people's representatives have discussed about projects that the district is in need of. I have not come here for village stay alone. I want to draw up an exhaustive programme for implementation of integrated development programme. We have recommended to the governor about the establishment of medical university here," he explained.

Kumaraswmy said that enough funds have been allotted for the implemetation of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam projects. "We have discussed about losses suffered by transport corporation here. We want to revive it. BMTC has to be made a profitable venture. Volvo city transporation is not profitable as Volvo buses moving on routes less than 200 km inflict losses," he explained.

He said that he is not scared by the Padayatra undertaken by BJP MLA from Devadurg constituency. He said he is aware of all the things with which this MLA is involved with. "I am aware about the high drama he had enacted by bringing Yeddyurappa to Devadurg inspection bungalow," he added. He said that the MLA had got Yeddyurappa in a bind.

Many programmes are under implementation in various departments in this districts. People will realize the result of decisions and plans drawn by the coalition government in the district after five to six months, he stressed. He said he had allotted Rs 500 crore for irrigation in Shikaripur and wanted the legislators too to have large-heartedness.

Kumaraswamy said that for his village stay, a toilet has been built in the school, which will be useful for the students. "I had said I do not need even a cot. I only wanted a simple mat and a pillow. The department spends money for its programme. I have no connection with it," he said.'

Ministers, Sa Ra Mahesh, Venkata Rao Nadagouda and former MLA, Konareddy, were present.
