Udupi: Prostitution racket - Four arrested from lodge at Herga

Udupi, Jun 25: The police who raided a lodge located at Herga here on Sunday June 23 arrested four persons, accusing them of operating a prostitution racket there.

The arrested men happen to be Vivekakanand V Sawant (34) from Prabhat Nagar in Mugwa village, Honnavar taluk, Rajesh Poojary (30), resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar, Muloor in Kaup taluk, Ishwar Gonda (30) from Karavali House in Kitre village, Bhatkal Marukere, and Shekhar Shetty (56), resident of Jansale, Siddapur in Kundapur taluk.

A sum of Rs 32,700, seven cellphones, three purses and a ledger book were confiscated from the possession of the accused.

After getting information about a prostitution racket being operated from the said lodge, district crime intelligence cell inspector, C Kiran, obtained search warrant from the deputy superintendent of police and raided the spot. He found that the allegations made against the lodge were true.

    What is the problem with police and other guys. If two adults decide to spend time together leave them alone. It is a biological requirement. The job of police is to see that there is no exploitation.

    If Pedro Sam has any problem, he should explain to the Police with identity proof and he will be allowed under Fundamental right of consensual act with prostitute. Without paying any cash but.
