Congress chief meets state in-charges to discuss LS rout

New Delhi, Jun 24 (IANS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi is holding meetings with his party's state in-charges to review the reasons for its dismal performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

According to top Congress sources, days after he held discussions with the party's Chhattisgarh in-charge P.L. Punia, Rahul Gandhi on Friday met senior state leader T.S. Singh Deo. He will meet Punia again today evening.

The Congress chief will meet Maharashtra in-charge Mallikarjuna Kharge on Wednesday, and Delhi in-charge P.C. Chacko on Friday.

The Congress managed to win only two out of 11 parliamentary seats in Chhattisgarh, despite bagging 67 of the 90 seats in last year's Assembly polls.

In Maharashtra, it managed to win only one out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats. It also lost in all the seven parliamentary seats in the national capital.

Following the rout, Rahul Gandhi offered to step down as Congress chief, but the offer has been rejected by the Congress Working Committee. The grand old party now faces a leadership crisis and has been mulling over a Presidium system of governance in the party with multiple working Presidents.

Rahulji Congress lost in Karnataka because 2+2 doesn't make four in politics. Aligning with JD(S) was a blunder with JD(S) ministers openly canvassing against the congress candidates during the Lok Sabha elections. Realising the blunders committed by this decision now Mr HDD is trying to salvage the situation for his SON HDK by tarnishing Siddaramaiah's image. Still Congress is clueless of the silent coup JD(S) is plotting against the Congress.
Like in Karnataka in all Congress ruled states its' the deliberate sabotage by the Congressmen trying to pull down each other at the cost of destroying the party that cost the Congress dearly in terms of seats.
Its matter of days for the UP Ghatbandhan of Maya and Akil to bite the dust in the next elections. Greed cost them the existence of their party.
In Kolkatta not aligning with the Congress, the CPM is now vanishing in thin air. Matter of time when the CPM Epitaph will be written by the electorate.
Don't waste your time conducting post mortem of the debacle. Move on and galvanise the partymen. Atleast you ought to have gone to AMETHI and thanked the large number of people who voted for you. That is Gratitude. Victory alone doesn't make you a Gentleman. Even in defeat you can be one.
