Puttur tahsildar caught red-handed receiving Rs 1.25 lac bribe

Puttur, Jun 20: Tahsildar Dr Pradeep Kumar from here was caught red-handed while receiving bribe from a caterer for clearing pending bills on Thursday, June 20. 

The amount involved was Rs 125,000. 

Pai Caterers owner was owed money by the government for the food supplied by him to officials during recent Lok Sabha elections. But as the tahsildar demanded bribe for the same, he had to complain about it to anti corruption bureau (ACB). 

The ACB sleuths laid a trap for tahsildar Dr Pradeep Kumar who had demanded the bribe of Rs 1,25,000 to clear the bills worth Rs 9,37,000. The tahsildar was arrested red-handed while receiving the amount. 

Investigations are in progress.

    The catering person must have inflated the bills, other wise why he has paid so much amount to the Tahsildar.Both are parties to the offence,and therefore, thorough investigation has to be conducted to find out the truth.

    For a bill of 937000 the caterer was asked to pay 125000. That is more than 10% and that is his margin. For a zero profit why would the caterer pay the bribe? Not surprising then that he decided to approach the ACB.

    i made police clearance certificate within 10 days in mangalore w/o paying from under ground. i made my khata number in mangalore w/i 50 days w/o paying under ground. but dis case is exceptionally known by da ghattada tahasildar. Punishment must be dismissal, not suspension.

    most of the govt employees are from Ghatta. They know that DK and Udupi are the districts where people will part with money like anything in the form of bribe. He cannot even think of this amount if he works in north karnataka.
    1.25,000 for nine lacs means what is the percentage?
    People have to be very careful, espeically the mangas of DK and Udupi. Whole India is in the twin districts now from Saloon, restaurants, businesses and govt posts. If you are not alert, they will just eat into your pocket.
    Protest everywhere and get your work done without paying anything.

    Good job by ACB sleuths and the proprietor of Pai Caterers. Poor guy has to slog so much in catering these politicians, and this greedy corrupt tashildar wants to sit in his office and make money to clear the bill's and that too such a large amount as bribe. More raids should be conducted under grass root level which will be a deterrence to corruption. Jai Hind.
