Rahul Gandhi browses phone during President's address

New Delhi, Jun 20 (IANS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday landed in a fresh controversy for not paying attention to President Ram Nath Kovind's address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament.

Gandhi was busy browsing through his phone for over 20 minutes when Kovind was addressing the first joint sitting of the 17th Lok Sabha and even talked to other leaders.

On the contrary, his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi listened approximately one-hour long speech of the President with full attention and even thumped the table in appreciation when the entire Central Hall of Parliament broke into applause after the President mentioned about the Uri surgical strikes and the Balakot airstrike.

Rahul Gandhi, however, kept on browsing his mobile. He continued staring on the floor even after Sonia Gandhi seemed to nudge him not to do so.

Appealing for simultaneous parliamentary and Assembly elections, the President outlined the new Modi government's roadmap, saying it was determined to crush terrorism and Maoism.

Rahul Gandhi is educated and knows exactly that the president is reading from the speech that is written and given to him by his secretary. Moreover, all the promises in the speeches of president and PM are just false and fake.
He is very right in browsing his mobile rather than listening to parrot lesson (gini pata)

President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to the Parliament lacks vision as most of it is the repetition of the past slogans and the programs failing to take into account the increasing employment.

The economy is currently under severe strain and both the organized sector and the MSMEs are feeling the pangs of slow down. The unemployment rate is the highest in the country in recent years and all studies made recently have talked about job losses in the last financial year rather than job growth. The NBFC sector whose viability is of great importance for the functioning of the economy is in a mess. Though the first budget of the second Modi government is due on July 5, two weeks away, the address should have at least mentioned about the turmoil in the financial sector and how the Government is thinking of meeting the challenge. But this has not been done.

Right now, the NBFC crisis has the potential to disrupt the economy as during the next three months, 1.1 lakh crore of local currency bonds are due for payment and most of the NBFCs are presently in a sticky situation due to lack of fund inflows. Experts say that already the economy is showing lower growth and now if the NBFC crisis persists, the growth impetus will get a fresh jolt. If the NBFC crisis accentuates, the small and medium companies will get a setback.

The address has mentioned that India is on the way to become the world’s fifth largest economy in terms of GDP and the Government through a reform process, will make it a US$ 5 trillion economy by 2024. This is a noble mission but just GDP growth is not enough to improve the economic well being of the poor, it is the manner of growth and its relationship with the distribution that is important in ensuring equity in the society.

President address is silent on endemic job crisis in the country, health care, security, attacks on minority, democratic system, marginalization of central institutions, increasing dept. of banks and so on.

He has started his campaigning for Modi 3.0. His Chelas and Cong supporters should be thanked for pressurising him to stay on the job despite his lack of interest.
