Puttur: Students' Council, Clubs and Association inaugurated at St Philomena College

Puttur, Jun 15: The inauguration of the Students' Council, Clubs and Association was held on Saturday, June 15 in the college auditorium.

The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.

President Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent said, “Student life is beautiful. God has created us and so we should have faith in him. He also said that failure is a stepping stone of success.” He advised students to make proper utilization of all the opportunities available in the institution.

Dr Preetham Philip Tauro, paediatrician, Father Muller Medical College and Hospital, Mangaluru and an alumni said, “College life is an important phase of life so students should concentrate on their studies and develop their personality.” He encouraged students to cultivate in them self-confidence and self-motivation .He urged students to develop self-discipline which is very necessary to reach their goal. He advised students to work hard by doing right things.

Chief guest Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director advised students to live with dynamism and enjoy very moment of life. He encouraged students to do their duty with difference and be responsible for what they do. He also said students to inculcate creativity and be positive in life.

Guest of honour Prof Leo Noronha, principal, St Philomena College, Puttur said, “Everyone has a purpose in life. God has given us life and so we should use it properly.” He urged students to secure good marks and shape their destiny. He wished students to rise above and be a celebrity of their life.

Principal Fr Vijay Lobo administered the oath of office to the newly elected members of the council.

Dr Preetham Philip, Felix D'Souza, retired administrative staff and the newly elected president, secretary and joint secretary were felicitated on the occasion.

Jaga Jeevandas Rai, president, Alumni Association complimented the office bearers of the student council.

Yashwanth M D, Usha A, and Laveena L Santhmayor, directors of Students' Council coordinated the programme.

The management committee members, heads of sister institutions and wardens of hostels were present.

Shobith Rai M (II SEBA), president of the Student Council welcomed the gathering. Calin D'Souza (II PCMC), secretary of the Student Council, rendered the vote of thanks. Riyonna (IIPCMB) compered the programme.
