Mangaluru: Drinking water shortage - Christians offer prayers seeking rain

Mangaluru, May 20: Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha of Mangalore diocese had given a call to all the Christian religious centres and other denominations to offer special prayers seeking rains in view of the fact that acute water scarcity has hit Dakshina Kannada district in a big way due to the fact that summer rains have remained elusive.

Accordingly, special prayers were offered in124 churches under the diocese and over a thousand other institutions functioning under it on Saturday evening and Sunday.

Bishop Dr Saldanha, who was on the annual visit to St Jacob church at Kateel, joined the special prayer for rain.
