Udupi, May 20: Krishna Kunal, general observer for Udupi-Chikkamagalur parliamentary constituency has instructed the officials and personnel deputed for the poll counting work that will be carried out at the St Cicily School of the city on May 23 to work according to the guidelines provided by the Election Commission (EC).

Kunal was speaking at the second round of training programme for the counting of votes held for the counting supervisors and micro observers that was held at the Atal Bihari Vajapayee auditorium at Rajatadri on Sunday, May 19.

Kunal said, "You should discharge your duties in a manner that does not give rise for any confusion or chaos. The result which you people will be giving should not give any opportunity for recounting of votes. Extra care needs to be taken in counting the postal ballots and ensure that they have been polled after providing all the necessary documents of proof and signature of the voter on the declaration form. If the postal ballot is rejected, mention suitable reason for the same."

Additional DC Vidya Kumari, all the assistant election officers of the district and Tahsildars took part in the training programme.
