Doha: Tulukoota Qatar celebrates 19th annual day in grandeur

Doha, May 16: Tulukoota Qatar celebrated its 19th annual day on April 12 at Delhi Public school Auditorium. The entire stage was lit up and brought alive the glimpse of Tulunadu household by bringing in the old household artefacts and the structures along with traditional attires.

Uday Shirva, gave his opening remarks as the in house MC member and welcomed the gathering he invited elders from the community, past presidents, and committee members for lighting the lamp. To proceed further with the programme, he introduced the guest MC Naveen Shetty for further occurrence.

The event was graced by the chief guest Purushottam Billimale professor of JNU. The guest of honour was M Ravi Shetty, managing director ATS and B R Satish, executive manager QDC. Chandan Shetty, the famed rapper from Karnataka was the special guest of honour. The event was sponsored by ATS as Platinum, Golden Trading and decoration as Diamond and QDC were the golden sponsors and many others too supported as silver Sponsor and support sponsors. The event was also largely supported by families by giving individual sponsor and by other various organisation rendered their support. The event witnessed a rich extravaganza and it was a vivid evening which was witnessed by a house full and spirited audience.

The women from the organization were dressed traditionally and welcomed the guest with the traditional ritual along with Purnakumbha to the venue. As purnakumbha means completion and the significance is that the endeavour undertaken must be successfully completed and this was the essence and spirit of the committee members and volunteers for the annual day.

The cultural event started by the singers who came from India. The singers had attained their fame at a very young age. They had participated in the Karnataka reality singing shows. The singers were the celebrated kananda Kogile contestants Akhila Pajimannu and Ganesh Karanth in Colors TV. This was followed by the small comedy skit from the group Sharada and Isiri kalavidaru lead by Sundar Rai Mandar and Deepak Rai Panaje.

The skit set the stage for the evening as the dialect and dialogues with comic punches took the audience with growl of laughter.

The in-house sports teams had kept the Tulukoota flag high through winning and participating in various sports tournaments. So, the teams were appreciated with the mementoes. The list was on with the achievers, so the adults and youngsters were also appreciated who attained fame nationally within their respective fields.

The programme mMedia management was shouldered by Kevin Arahna, the membership coordinator.

The in house artiste began the programme with a very artistic performance which also included Yakshagana towards the end. This performance brought the audience closer to the Tulunadu memory lanes. And the audience lauded the inhouse participants’ excelled talents.

The event had variety of events in-house artist of Tulukoota and external artistes from India.

The stage programme was graced by the chief guest and guest of honour. Asmath Ali, president welcomed the gathering and presided over the function. He was overwhelmed with the support he was rendered from the committee and the community and he expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the same. The guest anchor of the event was Naveen Shetty Edmemar who with his flair for Tulu made the gathering feel like home in the auditorium. With this the ambience and the feel was set for the Tulukoota programme. The MC was also supported by the local MC Naveen, Tvisha Setty and Divya Chetan. The chief guest and the guests of honour was honoured during the stage function.

The chief guest in his address spoke on the significance and richness of Tulu language and the challenges for it being recognised as the official language. The guest of honour Ravi shetty also addressed the gathering and stood with sense of pride that Tulukoota stands for in the state of Qatar and models the value of harmony and integrity with respect for all communities.

The programme also marked the unravelling of the 12th edition of Nirel by the chief guest. The 12th edition Nirel was full of articles from the in house members and with apt message by the ambassador through his encouraging and congratulatory address. The Nirel also witnessed the wishes of ICC president through his congratulatory and acknowledging the contribution of Tulukoota towards the Indian diaspora in Qatar. The Nirel was brushed with vivid cultural events of the last two years and bringing the reminiscence of the events back to the community and committee with the sense of pride and the spirit of hard work.

During the program vice-president also acknowledged the significant work of ICBF in Qatar and handed over Tulukoota's contribution in kind towards ICBF for its various humanitarian service to the needy Indian expatriate community.

ICC past president Milan Arun, ICBF, vice president Mahesh Gowda, ICC Head of in house activities and Tulukoota past president Ramachandra Shetty, Karnataka Sangha Qatar president Venkat Rao, KMCA president Ibraiz Khan, MCC president Sunil D'Selva, SKMWA president Abdul Majeed, Bunts president Deepak Shetty, Qatar Billawas president Raghunath Anchan, MCA vice president Clement Saldhana, Tulukoota past presidents Divakar Poojary, Seetharam Shetty and many founder and senior members of Koota and other associations graced the function.

Tulukoota activities annual report was presented briefly by general secretary Vijay Rai and vote of thanks was presented by cultural secretary Dhanlakshmi Rai.

The audience yearly look forward to tasting the flavour of their own country land through these programmes with the medium as the Tulu language. Tulu language brings together various caste, communities and religion under one roof and creates the feeling of oneness. The programmes were also designed in such a way that from the in house talent to the external guest artistes all presented their own art pieces with the flavour of the language.

The crowd was mesmerised by the special guest of honour Chandan Shetty as he took the crowd with him and made them dance to the tunes of his rap music.

Kids and adults joined him on the stage and enjoyed the show. The show came to a delightful end with the singers and two more comedy acts of the guest artistes and that kept the audience stuck to their seats.

The event was the mark of pride for the outgoing committee as the positive feedbacks and congratulatory messages poured in.
