Panaji, May 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa on Thursday said that they will not have any alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party in the State, at least for the current tenure of Pramod Sawant-led government.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told PTI that their former ally, MGP,  supporting Congress during recently concluded Lok Sabha election in the State will not have any impact on the votes to be polled by both the BJP candidates.

Sawant said that BJP will not have any trucks with MGP for the remaining tenure of this government, which is going smooth in coalition with Goa Forward Party and Independents.

When asked whether it is a big no from BJP side to MGP for alliances in future, Sawant said he cannot say anything about future, at this moment.

“I don’t feel that MGP, going with  Congress for the recently held elections will impact us in any way. They (MGP) are regional party. MGP voters are always diverted towards BJP, they will never go to Congress,” he said.

Sawant said that the current government is destined to complete its full tenure, without any disturbances.

“We are firm with our alliance partners, and we have full faith in them,” the chief Minister said.
