Ballary, Apr 22: A gram panchayat PDO supervising repairs of a bore well was knocked down by an iron ore lorry and killed here.

The incident took place near Kallahalli here.

PDO Venkatalakshmi (38) is the deceased. As people had boycotted elections because drinking water was not available, Venkatalakshmi had gone to the spot and conducted inspection. As a bore well was not working, she was standing by the side of the road getting it repaired.

Lorry driver fled leaving the lorry behind after the accident.
