Will contest from Varanasi if Rahul asks: Priyanka

Wayanad (Kerala), Apr 21 (IANS): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday said she will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi if asked by her brother and party President Rahul Gandhi.

She said this just before departing from here on a helicopter after winding up her two-day trip to the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency from where Rahul Gandhi is contesting, apart from his Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh.

"I am ready to contest and will contest from Varanasi if Rahul Gandhi asks me," said Priyanka Gandhi, just before departing from here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is again contesting from Varanasi.

    I am not sure whether she really has ability to fight a political battle against modi in varanasi, she knows if she looses her political career is finished, but each and every time she is just giving bytes to the media that she wants to contest from varanasi border to just stay in the news. In up only akilesh and mayawati combined can give a fight to modi. Priyanka is a very small leader compared to mayawati.

    She has all the right to contest anywhere in the country, why not in Varanasi against Modiji'? However she knows it well that she is sure to lose her deposit and her political career will be finished.

    It will be a Battle Royal and may also end the Modi Jhumla. It will be interesting to see if Modi will also file nomination from an additional seat from Gujarat if so he will only be betraying his nervousness. His so called invincibility will be put to test. I am sure the people of Gujarat will whole heartedly support a reliable and trustworthy candidate like Priyanka than a Jhumla candidate. like Modi

    For Priyanka, there is no loss as she is contesting for the first time.

    However, it will be extremely embarrassing if Modi loses his deposit. Modi should have run from another safe seat like I suggested many times before.
