Hubballi: Do not need to take patriotism lessons from Modi: HDK

Hubballi, Apr 19: Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy ridiculed BJP’s manifesto which promises to run a corruption-free government. “Did Modi sell tea to make the party rich? What about the Rs 78 lakhs recovered from a BJP leader in Karwar? Where did this money come from?” he questioned terming BJP’s claim of a corruption-free government as fake.

He also took a dig at Modi by stating there was not a single blast in Kashmir when his father H D Deve Gowda was the Prime Minister. “This is our heritage. Do not brand me. You have no right. I do not need to take patriotism lessons from you,” Kumaraswamy told Modi.

Kumaraswamy’s reaction comes after Modi’s speech on Thursday. "We had attacked terror camps in Pakistan. But some here were crying (for proof). Some people had even said that it was an attack in Bagalkot and not Balakot. Is your vote bank in Bagalkot or Balakot?" Modi had said.

The Karnataka CM went on to add, “In speech after speech, Modi talks about Balakot strikes. He says Pakistan is quaking. We know that Karnataka does not border with Pakistan. He (Modi) went to Pakistan and god knows what all he promised there.”

Kumaraswamy accused the PM of twisting his comments on the Pulwama terror attack.

“I shed tears when I saw the state of affairs in the house of a martyr (who died in Pulwama attack). However, Modi twisted this and said I shed tears for Pakistan. He wanted to emotionally hit me and hence called me a traitor,” Kumaraswamy said.

“What wrong did I say when I stated that some of the soldiers come from poor families? Not all make it to be Generals and not all are from well off families. Is it so difficult for Modi to understand?” he questioned.

Accusing BJP for hindering the smooth functioning of the coalition in Karnataka, he said his government waived off the loans of farmers. “However, Modi failed to create the jobs he promised. We are not running an incapable government like Modi. You are an incapable Prime Minister who is not capable to create jobs," he said.

Kumaraswamy said he was hurt by the comments of BJP leader Jagadish Shettar, who said Deve Gowda wants to bring his wife Chennamma into politics.

“This is weird. My mother is not political. She has worked for the poor in her 80 years of life with no political ambition," he said.
