Bengaluru: PU answer sheet evaluation - 6,529 assistant evaluators absent on first day

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 26: Even though the department of PU education had warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against those who wilfully absent themselves from evaluation work, on the first day of evaluation work in the state on Monday March 25, 6,529 lecturers absented themselves from attending to this work. The PU education department has now warned hat those who fail to report for evaluation work as per earlier orders by Tuesday March 26 would be proceeded against as per rules.

3,114 deputy chief evaluators have been deployed for the work. Out of total of 18,346 assistant evaluators appointed to do the work on Monday, only 11,817 reported for duty. About ten percent of these evaluators have been deployed for election-related work. The fact that election-related training programme for evaluators entrusted with election duty coincides with the evaluation work has also created problems for the department. The department has instructed lecturers and principals given the work of evaluation work to report for work without fail on Tuesday.

Director in the department of PU education, Dr P C Jaffer, issued stern warning of initiating disciplinary acton against those who fail to attend to work from Tuesday. Many of the evaluators have been appointed as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers for election related work, and they would be required to attend training on March 31 or sometime during April first week, as per the plans of district election officers. Dr Jaffer said that the department does not have accurate information about the evaluators deployed for election work. He said that the evaluation work is planned to be completed by April 6, and if the lecturers provide information about election duties entrusted to them, the concerned election officers would be contacted and requested to hold election training programme after the completion of evaluation work.
