Gehlot criticises Kalyan Singh's statement on Modi

Jaipur, March 25 (IANS): The Congress government on Monday strongly criticised the recent statement made by Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh wishing for a comeback of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country's Prime Minister.

Talking to the media during his Aligarh tour on March 23, Singh had said: "Modi should become the Prime Minister at the Centre once again."

A video of this went viral on Monday and the Congress immediately took notice of it and strongly objected to it.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted: "Personally we have the utmost respect for Shri Kalyan Singh ji, he is not only Governor of our state but is very senior leader too. I have learnt he has made political statements that we all are BJP workers, supporting Shri Narendra Modi for his re-election as PM."

"The post of Governor is a constitutional post and in democracy, it is expected from Governors to be non-partisan and maintain distance from party politics. It is really unfortunate that Singh has made such statements which do not suit the dignity of the post he is holding."

Singh in this video is also seen saying that we all are BJP workers. Hence, we want the BJP to come out a winner. It is important for Modi to become Prime Minister again for the benefit of entire society.
