Bantwal, Mar 25: A person lost his life while five other family members sustained injuries, after a car went out of the control of its driver and fell into a roadside ditch. The accident happened on national highway near the main circle at B C Road on Sunday, March 24.
In this tragic accident, K M Shariff from Bajal near Mangaluru lost his life. His wife, Jameela, and children, Safnaz, Safa, Safwan and Safreena suffered injuries of varying degrees.
The family was returning after participating in the house warming ceremony of a relative at Puttur. Safwan, elder son of Shariff, was driving the car at the time it met with an accident. Reason for the accident is yet to be found out. The injured persons have been hospitalised.
Local traffic police sub-inspector, Manjunath, led the police in investigating the incident.
