Nationalism does not mean Bharat mata ki Jai: Venkaiah Naidu

New Delhi Mar 24(IT): Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said expressing nationalism does not mean saying "Bharat mata ki jai" and asked youth to avoid discriminating people on the basis of religion, caste and urban divide.

"Nationalism does not mean Bharat Mata ki Jai. Sabke liye jai ho, that's patriotism. If you discriminate people on the basis of religion, caste, urban-rural divide then you are not saying Bharat mata ki Jai Ho," he said.

Interacting with students of Delhi University, Naidu said youth should focus on a "new India" which is free from corruption, illiteracy, fear, corruption, hunger, and caste barriers.

Venkaiah Naidu further urged the youth to avoid discriminating on the basis of caste, religion, urban divide and caste.

Courageous. May be periodic. Speak loudly sir, speak. Be quick to condemn when there is violence in the name of cows, religion, caste etc. Do not be silent and take one week to condemn rape of a minor as did my our PM. If you can speak what you said everyday as long as you can speak, then we will believe that you mean what you say. Silence means approval of the ideology of the party that voted for you.

Thank God, now that he is the VP, he is refraining from arrogant, inciteful language. When he was an active BJP member, it was a pain to listen to him. Yes, now he has give this kind of lectures more to the Bhakts.
