India government bans Yasin Malik-led JKLF


Srinagar, March 22 (IANS): The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by Muhammad Yasin Malik was declared a banned organisation on Friday by the central government.

"The JKLF outfit has been banned for promotion of secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir," official sources said.

Malik is presently under detention in Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu. Earlier, the Centre banned the Jamaat-e-Islami group.
