Bengaluru: Police shoot at notorious rowdy sheeter after he attacks police with knife

Bengaluru, Mar 22: The people in the city here woke up to the sound of gunshots early in the morning. Police SI Shanker Nayak attacked rowdy sheeter Jayanth by firing at him near Veerananjeepura gate in Nelamangala taluk.

Jayanth had assaulted PSI Kumaraswamy with a knife and tried to flee by bike when police had gone to arrest Jayanth. Therefore, police have fired at him for self-defence. Jayanth, who sustained injuries on his right leg is being treated in Harsha Hospital, Nelamangala. PSI Kumaraswamy suffered injuries on his right hand. He too is being treated.

There are about 25 cases including dacoity and extortion calls registered against Jayanth in three police stations in Nelamangala.
