Kalaburagi, March 22: A woman at Shahabada railway station here has handed a new born female infant in the hands of another woman sitting near her on March 21 saying that she will return after going to the bathroom and has fled.
The woman who was worried as the apparent mother of the child did not return even after three hours, informed the people in the railway station who in turn informed child line. The officials of child line who came to the spot have taken away the child to Kalaburagi district hospital in ambulance.
The whereabouts of the mother and the reasons for her leaving behind the child are not known. A police case is registered in Shahabada police station.
