Mangaluru: Saujanya Mahila Mandala holds Rangoli art demonstration

Mangaluru, Mar 22: A Rangoli art demonstration for women was held on March 20 under the auspices of Saujanya Mahila Mandala at Hoigebail, Urwa in the city.

National award winner in Rangoli art, Chandrakala Jayarama Acharya was the resource person. She gave detailed information to the attendees on how to draw Chukki Rangoli, Ele Rangoli and Rekha Rangoli.

Honorary president of the Mandala, K A Rohini welcomed the gathering. Ratnavati J Baikady, introduced the resource person to the gathering. President Shantha L Bhat did the introductory speech. Secretary Rajeshwari S Rao rendered the vote of thanks. Shailaja A Rao compered the programme.

Chandrika Jayaram was felicitated on the occasion for her commendable achievement in the art of Rangoli. Responding to the felicitation Chandrika Jayaram said, “The art of Rangoli is mainly related to the women. The responsibility of conserving and promoting it lies on the women. Everyone should draw Rangoli in front of their house, in addition to teaching the same to their children also.
