Senior Punjab CPI-M leader Balwant Singh dies


Chandigarh, Mar 21 (IANS): Former MLA and ex-state CPI-M Secretary Balwant Singh (82) passed away on Thursday at his residence here after a brief illness.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh expressed grief over the demise of the veteran CPI-M leader.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described Singh as a leader of the masses who worked relentlessly throughout his life for the cause of the disadvantaged sections of the society, especially to safeguard the interests of the industrial workers.
