‘Jet Airways on verge of collapse’: Pilots write to PM Narendra Modi on non-payment of salaries

Mumbai, Mar 21 (PTI): The pilots’ grouping of Jet Airways has said that the airline is on the “verge of collapse” and that they are facing lot of financial hardships without any relief in sight.

Flagging concerns about non-payment of salaries, the National Aviators Guild (NAG) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We fear that the airline is on verge of collapse and this will leave thousands of people unemployed and change the dynamics of aviation as fares will increase due to reduction in capacity and travelling public will face major inconvenience,” the letter said.

On Tuesday, the pilots’ body warned that they would stop flying from April 1 unless there is clarity on the resolution process and salary dues by end of this month.

In the letter sent to the Prime Minister on Wednesday, the guild said that since last seven months, the salary payouts for pilots have been sporadic.

“The pilots and engineers are now almost three months behind salaries... and facing a lot of financial hardships with no relief in sight,” it said.

The guild said that uncertainty and financial difficulties are causing extreme stress to pilots and engineers.

“Stress in this section of employees can easily compromise safety and is not at all desirable in a profession that demands the highest levels of alertness and safety,” it added.

The guild represents around 1,000 domestic pilots.

On Wednesday, NAG members held a meeting in the national capital wherein they endorsed Tuesday’s decision to stop flying from April 1. The meeting was attended by around 100 pilots, according to a pilot.

This is because of long term impact of high fuel prices and DeMo introduced by BJP. Running the nations' economy is not at par with selling tea. That too, just visiting the father's shop, no practical experience.

For you all the previous Economist PM was a puppet. How come an independent individual failed if MMS was a puppet ? Didn't give an indication that the Italian is more efficient than the tea-seller to have remotely run the govt., so successfully despite repetitive recessions ?

This is what happens if the reign is given to fake degree holders.

Actually Rafale jets manufacturing is not given to any company in India, it is done by Dassault Aviation of France. Also Reliance Group is one of the 80 odd ancillary unit chosen for spares for the jets.

Jet Airways is a professional company that has made several management mistakes and has run into losses on their own. Do you think BJP is running Jet Airways and has made losses for them?

If foreigners buy all of India's businesses, India has no hope for tomorrow.

Besides, Qatar Airways has not been doing financially well at the moment. It is paying a big price due to the blockade.

He and his un qualified team member have destroyed India's economy.
Youths are lamenting over unemployment. Money value is not giving any relief to dality waged people or people of low income but his speeches will never bring any solace to peoples difficulties.
He may say all the unemployed Jet Air staff to start paokode & chai stalls and occupy Chowkidar posts. Newver our country had such a mean and cheap talking PM.

There are two scenarios which Pradhan Chowkidar may be looking closely.
One- Help the ailing airlines and face the comment "PM helping rich industrialist/businessman friend at the cost of tax-payers money".
Second- Chowkidar choose not interfere/stay away, again get ready to hear country-wide accusation that, PM incapable to support the ailing industries, Unemployment has sky rocketed, PM has no clue...
Not sure what Chowkidar will chose. But whatever he choose, the opposite option will be chosen by expert countrywide commentators.,
However, voters are smart and they will decide soon....

Calamities after calamities since BJP in power. Where all such crises lead India no one knows. No botheration or any clue on deteriorating currency value and fuel prices, unemployment or job creations. Only election strategy is prospering. He talks about his capabilities of catching the fugitives but never admits how such guys mangaed to escape under his watchful eyes.

Along with them many more to join from BSNL, HAL, Air India, like many large enterprises with 1000s of employees. Modi led BJP plans for their future as well as chowkidars.

Does Narendra have a clue as to how to recue the collapsing business - without costing a paisa to the taxpayers?

    No.

Hopefully the Indian voters will vote some other party to power for better governance. The chai model has been horrendous for the country.
