Modi now 'Chowkidar', no more 'Chaiwala': Mayawati

Lucknow, Mar 19 (IANS): A day after BJP leaders prefixed 'Chowkidar' (watchman) to their Twitter handles, BSP leader Mayawati on Tuesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he has changed his profile from 'Chaiwala' to 'Chowkidar' only to get votes in the Lok Sabha elections.

"Ignoring the philosophy of simple living and high thinking, a man (Modi) who lives a regal life had advertised himself as 'Chaiwala' in the last Lok Sabha elections.

"The same person has pronounced himself a 'Chowkidar' with great pomp and show in these elections only to seek votes. My country is actually changing?" Mayawati tweeted.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader mentioned that the change occured only after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched the "Main Bhi Chowkidar" campaign.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Modi last week tweeted a video with the hashtag '#MainBhiChowkidar' (I am also a watchman) and changed his Twitter handle to Chowkidar Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister also called all those fighting corruption and social evils 'watchmen' and asked them to participate in the campaign for a better India.

    Our Prime Minister of India is all in one. He claims to be Chaiwala, Fakir, Mazdoor and now Chowkidar like Amit Bachan triple role in Bollywood.
    We can get better and honest 'Chowkidar' for less salary than Prime Minister. What India needs is effective Prime minister who walks the talk, ready to take a question from free media and have authentic credentials of his own qualification.

    I would rather say India will never get Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh who is the highest qualified among the world leaders' and economist.

    Though he speaks less he left a footprint which India can't forget. Perhaps the new generation harldy new about the Former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri contribution to India.

    She started with such a poor background you wouldn't believe!!
    From that she has spent around 500 crores on Elephant Statutes only in and around UP!!
    Her IAS officers, close confidants are embroiled in controversies and tax frauds amounting to hundreds of crores!!
    She has the gumption to blame anybody??
    She is the one who has lost all her wealth 'Post Demo'..She has not been able to get over the shock!!!
    Otherwise a woman who had vowed never ever to Join or to have anything to do with the SP for they had almost killed her in a 'guest house' has not only aligned but has even canvassed for them!!

    However she has kept the Congress out in no uncertain terms insulting them at every opportunity.
