Mumbai university holds lecture on Kuvempu, releases four books by Dr Vishwanath Karnad

Mumbai, Mar 18: The Kannada department of Mumbai University held a lecture on late author Kuvempu sponsored by Mitravrida Mulund and released four books written by Dr Vishwanath Karnad in a programme held in J P Nayak auditorium, Santacruz east on Saturday afternoon March 16.

Veteran author Dr Kalegowda Nagavara inaugurated the programme. Hubballi based critic and author Dr Shamsunder Bidaragundi delivered a lecture about the works and principles of Dr Shivarama Karanth.

Books published by Gayatri Prakashan of Dr Vishwanath Karnad, ‘Samachintana’ were released by Billavara Association Mumbai ladies wing president Jayanti V Ullal, ‘Samagra Kathegalu’ by veteran author Dr Kalegowda Nagavar, ‘Mouna Selathagalu’ by Mogaveera managing committee Mumbai president Krishnakumar L Bangera and ‘Nirantara’ collection of poems by Hubballi based critic and author Dr Shamsunder Bidaragundi.

Akshaya monthly magazine editor Dr Ishwar Alevoor, critic and author Dr Mamatha Rao, Kannada department lecturer Dr Poornima Sudhaker Shetty and poet V S Shanbhog introduced the works.

The drawings by well known artist Jaya C Salian were kept on display. Dr Kalegowda inaugurated the programme. Dr Poornima S Shetty introduced the guests and compered the programme. Kannada department research assistant Shivaraj M G proposed vote of thanks.
